I've been here a while so of course know it's easy to send money from one Korean bank account to another online.
I'll be getting money from an American, but I'm here in Korea. Of course the first thing he asks is what address he should send the check to...
What's the best way to get his money?
Can he send it online to my bank in America or what?
Or if he sends a check here... what's the deal with that?
Thanks. |

If you have a bank account in America, the best bet would be to deposit it there. If you have an ATM card for that account, you could withdraw it here.
If it's a large amount (several thousand dollars or more), then a wire would also make sense.
I would not send a check overseas. It will take a long time to clear and the bank will take a fee that is probably larger than the wire fee. |

| I transferred some money from America to Korea and used Western Union--$26 fee and I could get the cash in minutes. It was relatively easy (the clerk on the American side was an idiot) and hassle-free. KB and some other banks handle Western Union transfers. |
