I know all about that ubiquitous Lollipop tune..

But other than that incessant musical "experiement"..

Could any of you guys update me on Pop Kulture?

Specifically.. who are the major music acts now.. What's the current RP Game of choice? What is a current trend(s)?

I just got back to Korea recently and I am like, totally behind the times. My pop skills date from 2006 (a little) and 2002 (a lot more.)

I just need to be able to speak Kulture with the Kids. (or at least be aware of what's down up in here, yo.)

Major k-pop acts lately... SHINee (especially right now, as they've just released their new mini album and are making their comeback debut soon, I think next week?), Super Junior, Big Bang, 2NE1, 2AM and 2PM, SNSD, Epik High, Wonder Girls... I would say DBSK, but they're often in Japan these days.

Previous poster answered this question very well. I would also add SS501 and if I think of it there must be more... BoA is being watched to see if she'll make it in the US, but she's not active in Korea now, Wheesung... But Super Junior, Big Bang, 2NE1, Epik High and Wonder Girls really seem to be on top.

I wouldn't say the Wonder Girls, since they haven't had a hit in a while and are working in the US right now. Overall these are safe bets:

Big Bang
Super Junior
Youna
Shinee
2NE1
After School
Son Dambi
Epik High
2NE1
SNSD (but...be careful with that one. A lot of teenagers HATE them)
SG Wannabe

Oh hm... I didn't think of SS501. They are in Hawaii right now and then are heading off to some other Asian countries. I think they're making their Korean comeback in August.

That's SNSD. And kind of like the poster above said, people seem to either love them or hate them.

2ne1's song Fire, and After School's song Diva are big hits with the middle school set right now.

I just got back from Busan 4 weeks ago and the tune of:

"Sorry sorry sorry sorry" was stuck in my brain for weeks to come

also the song "Saturday night" was heard about a dozen times in a week span.

I must admit, catchy tunes and a good beat make for enjoyable music.

Yeah, it's all garbage from what I've heard. Even Brittany Spears makes better pop, not that I listen to that saccharine crap.
