I see that EC are at it again - recruiting. As if working split shifts in polyester blue lab coats (and their recent money problems) wasn't enough of a temptation for the discerning newbie, their recruitment man adds this colorful touch to the listing:
If you want to work like a slave, EC will let you work an after-school program and then you can make 5M/mo.!
Don't believe me? Check it out here then:

Isn't that tempting? You have to wonder where they find these people. First Bob (who maybe is still with EC, but in hiding - hiding from the creditors), now this guy. I had heard one particularly lurid story about him (something he bragged about in front of trainees). But this seems quite a departure for them, honesty in describing the job. |

I'm just wandering how this is useful for someone.
There are a number of Ifs on their website. IF you book this,
If that. In order to attain that level of salary. There are ALOT
of Ifs.

Their contract is dire beyond belief. Part of the problem is that they have a contract and a policy & procedures document (ok, normal so far...). However, the policy document is changed whenever they like, and the contract states that the employee must abide by the policy & procedures. So in their opinion they can effectively change the contract at will. If anyone points out the obvious, that they can't just alter a contract at will,
they point out helpfully that this is how things are done in Korea. A Canadian saying this, not Koreans. This is after the contract is signed, of course.
Bob used to claim that this was no problem, as they'd "never change the contract negatively". Ahem. "Never", in my short experience of EC, meant within a month of starting work.
It can't be said enough on this site, if you ever hear of anyone considering English Channel, just tell them to avoid the place like the plague. |
