Three students and I set off the burglar alarm at our middle school this evening and the ADT guy showed up about 15 minutes later (as if any real burglars would have stuck around that long after breaking in). Will there be a bill arriving that might require some explanation, or should this be part of their monthly services fee? The ADT guy looked rather annoyed.

Probably, they might give you an annoyance fee even if you have a good reason. But, if they didn't call the police then its not a big deal.

Mine doesn't, and I had 5 false alarms in a year.

All part of the service fees. They will come and go, but most likely will be quite pissed depending on how often it happens and why. If it had just been your students, the guy probably would have reamed them a new one, but because you were there, he just gave you the grumpy what the hell are you doing look.

Yeah, that's about what happened. The old caretaker guy had locked up the building and set the alarm, not knowing we were still in the library. I guess we should have let him know we were staying there, but then it is his responsibility to make sure the building's empty before he locks it.
I'm pretty sure the police weren't contacted so I guess we should be OK - good to know, guys. |
