I know how severance is calculated considering salary and overtime, etc., but I was wondering if anyone has experience with the labor board or their employer on this following issue. If I do work in April or May, but my school chooses not to pay me until June or July, is the full amount paid in June or July calculated onto severance?

NO! Evil or Very Mad

That's a new thing Busan Epik is pulling. They want you to leave first before they pay your severance and Plane ticket.

It is totaly junk!! What they are doing is caluculating how many times you left early and if you were on vacation longer than 14days. And if your plane ticket YOU bought fits the standerard of the abritary ideas they set. and all of the bills that you might not have paid pus deposits and such.................Then

here is the fun part................they subtract everything they think you owe them from your severance and kick down the rest if any is left
to you 1-2 months later.

This so called rule cam into effect 2 months ago...........however, saying not in my contract wont get you anywhere.

Going to be a lot of people who are going to NOT get all thier plane ticket money OR even they total severance ............if they get it at all its TWO months later

Wonderful isn't it!

LOL oh no you won't know until its time to leave. Asks the vet most of us are checking out for bigger and better things.

Its sad..........I told Ms. Choi it sad that after all these years I am leaving
with a bad feeling and this time I really don't want to come back. I work in and with Epik for a very very long time. I was here when they slashed the bennies the first time and everyone left ...........then they got strait and life was good...now this....

EPIK is going to hell in a hand basket. The new clauses in the September contract are thoroughly retarded. 18 calender days vacation. They can make you take a psychological test, now. Shocked

Well, they have 15 days to pay severance.

What I'm asking is if payments within the last three months that go on the severance average have to be for hours actually done in the last three months. So would 1M won paid in July for classes done in April, May, June and July (not so uncommon a practice) be included in the severance, or just the portion of the 1M that came from June and July hours?

Article 2 Clause 6 of Labor Standards Act wrote:
The term "average wages" in this Act means the amount calculated by dividing the total amount of wages paid to the relevant worker during three calendar months prior to the date [of retirement]... by the total number of calendar days during those three months.

I guess it just matters when the wages are paid. So, if they choose to pay me in July for work done in March, April, May and June, then I guess the total July payment is included with severance. Too bad for them.
