I've always disregarded this city...being so overshadowed by San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego in the State of California.
But...can Sacramento really be all that bad compared to OTHER cities in other States? I'm kinda thinking that if it were in nearly any other state, it would be known as a desireable location in its own right - at least in whatever state that might be.
Anyone else familiar enough with Sacramento? Does it deserve its very mediocre reputation, or is it an underrated California city? |

I think it's a pretty cool spot to be in. Halfway between SanFran/the ocean and the Sierra Nevada mountains. I haven't really had the chance to check the place out, but the times I passed through there I thought what I just said in the first sentence. |

It doesn't surprise me at all. State capitals get disregarded left and right.
California, and those who are in love with it, is all about the COAST, and Sacramento is not on the coast. It might be a nice city (I've only driven through it once at night, and it sure was sleepy), but it's not what people look for in CA.
Does anyone care about Albany, NY?
How about Tallahassee, FL?
Jefferson City, MO?
etc, etc.
I'd say if Sac were in another region, I would just guess it'd be something of a Cleveland or some such. Also, let's not forget, you left out one more city in the state of California which is larger than Sac and also often disregarded - San Jose (3rd largest city in the state after LA and SD). Again...it isn't on the coast (well, not much of it is anyway). |

Yeah, I was there end of May and it was already well in the 90's. Probably up over 100 many days in the summer. It is close to Tahoe and San Fran though. |
