Hi all,
I'm from the UK and I submitted my CV/resume and got a responce straight away for teaching in Korea on a years contract. I've had the phone interview with the school which went fine and am in contact with someone through email while i get my visa sorted out.
The thing is I have an HND (higher national diploma) but not a degree which it said was required. It was completed at a university and I have already got the sealed and stamped transcripts from them. I have got everything except the criminal record which I am waiting on. Pleeeeeeeaassee tell me this isnt gonna be a problem when I send it to them, the recruiter woman and the school I'm in contact with haven't said nothing to me and I dont particulary wanna bring it up! I clearly stated HND though. The immigration office wont reject it will they? I will be so depressed if they do.
thanks |

Is it a PUBLIC school or a PRIVATE school?
If it's a public country-side school, the rules have changed. 2-year degrees/certificates are OK (though you may have to scream at the immigration people to check their own damn rules).
If it's a city or private school job... you're S.O.L. |

an HND is not a degree......but having completed 2 years of education at Uni you can ONLY teach through GEPIK's "TaLK" program.......public school gig that pays 1.6 mil a month.
Any other job, you will get rejected by immigration for the visa or be working illegally.
I think the recruiting company you are using are just confused about the Uni system in the UK and assume an HND is the same as a BA. They're used to dealing with the Americans and Canadians more
don't know if it's an option but if you can I would do the extra year and get the BA. Opens up a lot more doors not just in ESL.

That nails it. To receive the 2.2 million K won a month, you need a degree. You can only enter Korea on the TALK program, & earn 1.6 mill a month, with an HND.
'apostle' & 'apostille' are 2 very different words, btw. |

| A HND is not a degree mate I'm sorry to say - My sister had to convert her HND to a degree by doing an extra year. You won't be getting past the Korean embassy in London who will know the difference. |
