|

I've searched the boards and some of the info was old.
I know of one near Anyang station, Gangnam station and Jongak. Any other video arcades that are worth checking out? |

| i don't know how great those arcades are that you mentioned, but most of the arcades i've seen aren't really great. But theres on in Sinchon and one in Hyehwa. they're all pretty much the same. |

The arcade near anyang is semi-decent. You got the dancing games, fighters, basketball and racers.
The gangnam one is nothing but tekken 6: BR. A tiny hole in the wall with nothing but Tekken 6 wall to wall.
The jongak one was ghetto.
The one at suwon station (cgv building) is pretty big. that one isn't bad.
I guess I was looking for something along the lines of the u.s style dreamworks. or those big sega arcades. I guess there aren't any. but i heard there might be one near chongsin university station line 4 |

best one I've seen was in Coex Mall
Coex is at Samseong station, green line (#2)
and I've seen/walk by a couple that may be good
was walking from Sookmyung station toward Seoul station on the main road and saw what I thought was a couple of arcade places, looks big
but you wouldnt know it's an arcade place from the outside |

In terms of games, what exactly are you looking for? You said the arcade in Jonggak was "ghetto," but, if it's the one I'm thinking of, it's pretty decent. I like to play Tekken, especially Tekken Tag, which is now 10 years old, and virtually every arcade I've been to in Korea has had great Tekken players. While the rooms themselves might not be too clean or flashy, most arcades here have a good selection of inexpensive games and, more importantly, excellent players (the Tekken players here are MUCH better than those in the US, thank goodness).
If you like Tekken, there are good arcades in:
Jongno (2)
Hyehwa (2)
Sukdaeibgu
Yongsan Station
Gangnam Station
Sinchon (2)
Sincheon
Nowon
...and probably a few other places I've never been to/can't think of.
The best "flashy" arcade is probably Enter, which is located in Sinchon. It used to be 3 stories, but I think it's only 2 now. Still, they have a decent selection of games, ranging from Mario Kart to Tekken to Air Hockey, and the interior is nice, bright, and clean. That might be more of what you are looking for. |

Maybe we're thinking of different jongak arcades. The one I went to was a tiny hole in the wall. And I play pretty much only Tekken 5 and a little bit of 6. So far, I've got a winning record in T5. The Koreans are good, but I was a little bit underwhelmed.
I'll check out sinchon soon. That one sounds pretty good. |

If you are primarily interested in playing Tekken, Enter is not the best arcade. If you go along the main street away from McDonald's towards Yonsei, there is a much better arcade on the left side of the road across from the large church. It is essentially a crowded hallway, but they have many Tekken cabinets set up and, equally important, many good players, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. |

Yeah same here, the COEX one is the best one i've seen. A lot of the gun games were broken the first few times i went, like the targeting waayyyyyyy off but i guess they fixed them.
P.S. the rollercoaster ride thing made me queasy. |
