South Korea rarely gets any international music stars visiting them for a concert compared to Japan- it seems like an afterthought, and for a good reason.
There will be a new concert called Jisan Valley Rock Festival from 7/24 to 7/26- which is from Friday to Sunday, and I believe just in time for the summer vacation for most schools.
Some of the notable acts include Basement Jaxx, Fall Out Boy (big EW), Jimmy Eat World, Oasis, Patti Smith, Priscilla Ahn, and Weezer. It's the first time Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy and Patti Smith ever performed in Korea. There's a decent J-Rock band called Asian Kung Fu Generation as well as other Korean bands, though I never heard of them.
The promoter's webpage is here, and you can check out the entire list of bands to perform.:

The Korean promoter behind this is apparently getting some tips from the guys behind Fuji Rock Festival, so I imagine they will try to make this the de facto summer rock concert in Korea. Forgot to mention there will be electronic acts for a rave show as well, so if you are into that...
The three day ticket is 165,000 won, which is reasonable, methinks.
They are also selling tickets for the camp sites there, and I believe there will be information about places to stay as well.
I know I'm requesting a day off for this. |
