I'm looking to upgrade from my SK card phone. Anyone recommend any decent places to do this a get a contract. I want to keep the same number so it would have to be SK still. Also what do they need ARC, passport, Bank details???
I asked at a few places in HBC but the tariffs they offered were terrible. Anyway any advice appreciated!

If you want to change to a contract phone I'd highly reccommend LG Telecom (now Oz). I have a contract phone (got it 2 years ago) through SK but I had to put down a 200,000KRW foreigner deposit and have a co-teacher come with me to set it up at the shop.
I've been hearing from other people that SK is flat-out denying foreigners a contract phone. LG, however, seems to be welcoming foreigners by NOT having a required deposit AND offering a free (or greatly reduced cost) phone.
Changing providers would likely mean changing your phone number, but, come on, is it really that much of a problem? |

I second LG. I rarely use my phone to talk, but I text frequently. My bill is always around 20,000. Good deal. |

It depends on who you go to set up your phone- I have SK but I had to pay the 200,000won deposit, which you will get back once your contract ends. The contract is 2 yrs though.
Most of my friends have LG- no deposit. Free phone.
Most stores try to push you to get LG if you're a foreigner- less hassle for both parties.
Take your ARC, passport, and bank info.
Most actual SHOW stores won't take you, but if you go into the stores that have all three services- LG, SK, KTF, they'll be able to help you out.
You can go to Yongsan or Techno Mart to look at the choices and try to haggle there for nicer phones. |

I recently changed to LG from SK (both contracts). No deposit for LG, and I got a nice LG Ice Cream phone for 40,000. I got to keep the same phone number too...all in all...a good experience. They needed my ARC and my Bank Details. That's all. |
