My after school program has asked me for a photo copy of my ARC and bank book. I asked them what for, and my manager told me it's for some sort of teacher insurance the company uses (and the company pays for it, so no charge to me). The insurance is in case something happens to a teacher or student in the classroom.. I guess so the company has some sort of protection against law suits or other charges.

The private company that runs the after school program is Daekyo (which is a giant corp.) and seems to be trusted.

Any experience with this kind of request? Ever heard of such a thing? Should I look more into this? Should I request more information?

My manager is already a bit annoyed with me because I am always careful before giving up anything or doing anything and I always cross check with my girlfriend or any one that speaks Korean. I guess she probably thinks I am 'over cautious' and is annoyed by me although she has never said so.

Advice?!?!

They don't need a copy of your bankbook, for ANYTHING. Call bull, because that's what it is. Bull.

second with an addendum, they only need the first page copy when they initially set up direct deposit. The "insurance" sounds to me like the abillity for them to take out money should you screw up.

I have requested more information about it, and I am going to open up a new bank account (and move any salary into it), just for safety.

(I figure if they really want to screw me, they more than likely would have had my old bank account info anyway, from when I copied my bank book for my salary deposits)

A new bank account won't hurt I guess!
