If you got your criminal background check done in the US, how long did it take to get the results back? I can apply online through the TBI and have the results emailed to me but there was no mention of how long it would take. I've heard it can take about 2 months but I'm really not sure. I know I have to have it notarized and apostilled, too, so I'm a little worried that I will run out of time.

I got my CBC done at my county clerk of court cost $15 and took 5 minutes I guess $16.50 since I had to park in a garage downtown. The apostille for me here in North Carolina was a 2 day, 1 night trip to the Capital.

I went to the Cleveland police department and it took 5 minutes. One hour total to get it notarized and apostilled. $0.05 for the cbc, $1 for notary, $1 for apostille and $8 for parking.

I had my fingerprints electronically scanned. Took about 4 days to receive paperwork by mail (with notarization incl. free). Apostille took almost 5 whole minutes. The entire process will probably take a lot longer if you ordered your CRC by mail. Also, if the place that scans it is different from the place it's run (or if you use ink prints) it might not even work. I have the advantage of living in Idaho's capital city. (Although, strangely, I had to go out of time to get my fingerprints scanned.) If you can take a trip in to take care of it yourself, it might save you some time and effort later on down the line.

The FBI check takes a long time. It took me about a month and a half to get my Peace Corp prints back. Just go state and get that notarized and Apostilled.

Do you have to be fingerprinted? Or is that only if you get like a false positive?
