I only know one (Waiting for a Miracle) from the Natural Born Killers soundtrack....but it is such a great song. I've never heard or felt anything like it when I listen to it.

I don't know a great deal of his music really, just some of the old famous ones and the album "The Future," which I think is great. I'm sure he's got a lot of good stuff, I just don't know it.

Never heard of him. Did he play with the Grateful Dead?

Three of my favs come immediately to mind:

If it be your will
Suzanne
Hallelujah

(It's midnight and I just came off a hectic week. I'll re-visit this later with two more. 'Famous blue raincoat' is definitely top ten in my books. 'Everybody knows' used to annoy me but it has grown on me and it certainly sticks in my head, is fun, though in a different way than most of his songs.)

That's okay. Many people have huge gaps in their knowledge of music.

Tower Of Song
If It Be Your Will
Don't Go Home With Your Hard-On
Avalanche IV
Bird On A Wire

Incidentally, VI, no need to be a pompous ass because you own more than 10 albums. Not everybody is a music nazi like you or I.

I like what Neil from The Young Ones said. "I might as be a Leonard Cohen record because nobody ever listens to me."

Suzanne
Bird on a wire
Closing time.

Started thinking of Tom Waits as I am writing this as he has some bizarre cool songs as well.

Only top 5? I think I could rattle off fifty songs I just never get tired of in the L. Cohen canon.

Let's see:

The Window
The Partisan
Master Song
Democracy
Dress Rehearsal Rag
Seems So Long Ago, Nancy
Stranger Song

Okay, seven. Best I can do. How about a favorite lyric, anyone? I can think of 2 off the top of my head I particularly like:

1) "I don't mean to suggest that I loved you the best/I can't keep track of each fallen robin./But I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel./That's all. I don't think of you that often." (Chelsea Hotel No.2)

2) "I changed my style to silver./I changed my clothes to black./And where I would surrender/Now I would attack." (Came So Far for Beauty)
