I have several questions:

1) How do you know if you've been blacklisted?

2) Can pulling a runner from your decrepit hogwan put you on a blacklist?

3) Can being on a blacklist affect your tourist visa--especially if you have a return (back to the U.S.) ticket?

Thanks so much for all and any help!

I think you can find yourself on a blacklist in certain situations. If you try to get a job in an area close to the outfit you just fled, you may have problems. The two schools may have the same education and immigration offices. If any blacklists exist, they will be at these offices. I take that back...there could be blacklists at the consulates back in the west. If one fails his interview, he or she may go onto such a list.

The bigger threat is blackballing. Blackballing is word-of-mouth. Blackballing would affect you if your ex-employer is vindictive and gives you either a bad reference or none at all when the new boss calls to verify employment, if he does.

The best policy is to avoid the area you ran from when you apply for a new job. Some employers call your previous employers to verify employment and some don't.

Would being on a blacklist affect your ability to get a tourist visa? I imagine it wouldn't. Tourists spend money. Koreans like money.
