I've been googling my brains out, and here am leaning towards either a Canon HF-10 or HV-30.
I'm liking the latter a bit more because I think it will be easier for video editing compared to the HV-10, which records in AVCHD. My end stage will be the web, so it's critical that I get a camcorder that can facilitate editing and uploading while still maintaining a high quality.
Here's a question: if I get the HV-30 (MiniDV), is the tape cheap and easy to get in Korea?
And what do you think about this camera? |

miniDV tapes should be easy and cheap I would imagine. Although stick to one brand of tapes, as some miniDV tapes are 'wet' and some 'dry' and should not be mixed for use on the same camera. (But don't worry about buying the most expensive tapes or anything, cheap tapes from a reliable company should be fine)
I've heard good things about the HV 30, although Ive never worked with it. |

I've got an HV30 and love it. Check out www.hv20.com if you haven't already and look on vimeo for some shots that it can produce.
I'd recommend getting the Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ tapes too |

Awesome, xCustomx.
Do you use an editing program with it? I've heard that it's tough to edit MiniDV. Is tape a hassle? I've got a fast PC computer and Sony Vegas Pro 9; I wonder how well the formats would mesh.
Some people are trying to get me to go with a flash disk HF100 instead for increased convenience, but I've heard so many great things about the HV30. Looked into HV40s as well, but none are available here in Korea. |
