So how many young teachers have the strength
to last more than one year? Just curious. |

Strange way of phrasing it. I'm in my second year...but I might not be what you consider young (it's relative) and I'm not sure that staying on for another year makes me Tough Stuff! I think that some people are tough for staying (Korea's a struggle for them, they miss their family and friends too much and struggle to relate to anyone) and others are tough for leaving (they have responsibilities back home that they need to face up to, and although they enjoyed their Korean life...they have to do the right thing). It's not black and white.
I am tough as all sheet though...obviously. |

How many 'young' teachers will be tough enough to go back to the real world and try make it there. And how many 'old' teachers will be stuck here for the rest of their days telling, or maybe reassuring themselves that they have it all here.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaa

I'm doing a 3rd year straight out of uni. Actually I graduated early and taught in Russia for 6 months before Korea. And I haven't visted the US since August 2007. |

'Real World.' Hmmmm. I'm sure korea is very 'Real World' to Koreans.
I couldn't make it back home. Mostly through lack of interest and boredom.
So I slack here working 5 hrs a day at a job I enjoy and can do blindfolded and save okay money.
If anyone wants to look down on me or think I'm not 'tough' by their definition, I'll just quietly giggle to myself. Don't get me wrong I don't think I 'have it all' here and do not want to live here much longer - but it's been prettty f'ing cool to be honest. |
