Geckoman, you are the saddest person.

I'm ashamed to tell Koreans that my country, NZ, still has the Queen as head of state. It's embarrassing.

I'm a NZer (a Welsh one, to boot!) and I'm not embarrassed that QEII is the head of state in NZ as well as other Commonwealth countries. I think it's great, our government governs and we get a ceremonial head of state that has no effect on the way we live our lives and costs us next to nothing. The cost of running the GG is nothing compared to the political and financial manoevering a presidential system would entail. Let's keep on making hay while the sun shines, and when the current monarch dies we can consider moving away from a constitutional monarchy then. But until then, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

That irrelevant bag isn't dead yet?

Oh well, I guess it's a good thing knowing who's next in line ...

Worse thing is my parents are still monarchists *shudder*

Still prayer and hope that the next time a referendum comes around Australians do the right thing rid themselves of the irrelevant mob halfway cross the world.

When I first came to Korea, the British Embassy invited us to a garden party in August in honour of Queeny's *official* birthday. It was pretty good.. great food!!

I love it when someone comes and invades your country, puts themselves up as royalty, and then are adored by the populace.

Long live class warfare!

I didn't even know the queen had a birthday.

I used to always try to honour Queen Victoria on her day by masturbating.

Well, when you came to 'your country' along with the invaders, it kind of makes sense. Anyway, in NZ the Kingi-tanga (Maori King) would be a perfectly acceptable alternative, from my point of view, once QE2 dies. I don't know what the non-Waikato tribes would think about that though.

They have one every year.. I was invited to it twice. I am not sure how they select their invitees.. a bit random, I think.
