I was wondering if anyone could help me locate an English-speaking playgroup in Daegu for my son. We moved here a few months ago and enrolled him in a Korean daycare (he's two years old), but he's really struggling, mainly I think because of the language as the staff don't speak much English. We're not sure how much longer he - and they - can cope with it.

If anyone knows any playgroups - either an 'official' one or an unofficial one among English speaking parents, I would be truly grateful. The transition has been tough on both my wife and child and it would be nice to give her a break from looking after him 24/7, even if only for a few hours a day. Or it can be a Russian speaking playgroup as my son is bilingual. Would appreciate any thoughts, help or suggestions

I know the original post for this thread is something like 2 years old but I want to ask the same thing.

Our family lives in Daegu and my wife is Korean. My son is just over 3 years old (Western age) and has plenty of exposure to Korean through my wife's side of the family and his pre-school. I do my best to expose him to English by interacting with him as much as possible and getting him to watch pre-school educational shows in English but it has become obvious that his Korean learning is outstripping his English learning. I'm willing to bet there are other mixed families in Korea going through the same situation.

So, I'm hoping to find or establish an English playgroup for families in Daegu that have at least one of the parents being a native English speaker. Drop me a line if you're interested!
