My co-teacher wants to have an end-of-the-year scrabble tournament for our 6th graders, so we are looking for some used scrabble games in decent condition. We need them by the end of June/beginning of July.

She found a website online where they sell for 44,000KRW a pop, which is too expensive. I'm looking to pay around 15,000.

Thanks!

Can you print them out or use computers? That's how I would do it. Get some cardboard and glue a sheet with the necessary letters, then cut them out. The board could be made in a similar way.

Another idea would be to make them wall based (if you make the letters big enough). This would allow people to see the other games being played while waiting for their turn.

It might take a while for the students to think up a word.

Thanks, lifeinkorea, for your thoughts and for the bump. Using computers is a great idea, especially since there are about 8 brand-new computers in that room for students to use that rarely get used.

I already asked my co-teacher about that and she really is set on using the physical board games. Basically I'm hoping that I can find something cheaper so we can use the money on something more educational, practical, and useful than having 6 scrabble games for a one-time-only board game challenge. If I can find the games before the end of June, we get to buy books; if not, the money goes to buy scrabble games.

We already have 3 scrabble games, and the 5th and 6th grade kids can come in at lunch if they want and practice. They're pretty advanced, overall, so they're better competitors than I thought they would be.

I would also welcome information on websites where I can get the games for less than 44,000, or any other ideas. If you have a scrabble game and want to negotiate a higher price, that's all good too.

Thanks!

Try Homeplus. A brand new Scrabble game should be much cheaper than 44k?
