We are planning to get married before we start our job.
Should we bring this with us/ is it standard for employers to ask to see marriage certificates? Thanks

The recruiter might be asking for it if the wife is changing her name on some documents, and therefore might need it to prove that Jane Smith is indeed Jane Bond.
Speculation. I have had married staff members, and we needed to show the name change. |

We brought our marriage certificate with us. I would never give it to anyone even immigration. I just gave immigration a copy of ours but my wife is not teaching.
We bring all of our documents. |

| Not sure what visa you or your wife will be getting, but if one of you will be on an F3 visa, then you will need copies of your marriage certificate. We used copies of our marriage certificate for a tax break here in Korea, visas to China, and getting health insurance. They have never asked for an original nor have they asked for translated copies. |
