I'll be coming to busan in august and am aware of the quantity of buses available in the city. that said, how do i go about getting a bus pass/card to use? will it work with other buses throughout korea as well (ones that accepts them anyways)?

ok, so I don't live in Busan, so I'm not going to be able to give you the same info as someone who lives there, but seeing as no one else has replied, I'll tell you what I know.

I got a Busan bus/subway card when I went there first last May. I got it from the Busan Subway Station (right by the KTX/main Busan Station). It works for buses and the subway in the same way as a T-Money Card in Seoul, inlcluding charging it in the same way. It says "Dynamic Busan" on it, and "하나로카드" As far as I'm aware it can only be used in Busan, and the T-Money card doesn't work there.

Just to add to Ruthdes' reply:

You can pick up your Hanaro card in any subway station from a vending machine which has an English option. The cards are 2,500 Won, I think. Or, you can go swanky and get yourself a nice little cell phone charm that doubles as your card. Those are a bit more; maybe 4,000 Won. After you have your card, you charge it up with however much you want at the 'Recharge' machine, which is probably right next to the machine where you got your card. Also, you can recharge your card at most convenience stores. You can use the cards for subways, buses, and some taxis.

Just use the subway here in Busan, it takes you anywhere you want to go. I only use the bus when I go to work, but to travel around here in Busan, the subway is easy to navigate and not complicated at all.
