I need a book for teaching a class of 3 corporate employees who are quite high up in the company. They have decent enough vocabulary, but it can be limited. Their grammar skills need some brushing up along with pronunciation. They want to improve their listening skills and basicall their English levels (of course). I suggested using "The Cutting Edge," but I'm worried that this book may be too involved or not the right material for what they want.
Any suggestions? |

This book has business english in 3 levels. Level 1 I use for my teachers classes. Its all conversation English but geared towards business. It has been a lifesaver. Its about 18000 for the book and then you can just photocopy pages for each student. One double page lasts abuot 1 lesson. There are many listening activities and conversation starters to get the students talking. The CDs are more expensive though i think for book 1 it was 27000 for the 2 CDs.
you can order it from www.ypbooks.co.kr
if you google English 365 you can find outmore and look at sample pages etc. Its a Cambridge press book.
hope this helps |

I've used the Interchange series with pretty good success. Level 1 if you want to teach where they're probably really at (or move through a book fairly quickly), Level 2 if you want to shoot above their heads a bit and/or take your time.
There's a combination of pronunciation exercises, grammar, short conversations, articles to read and talk about, listening, etc. so it pretty much covers all the basics. It's hard for them to complain that they aren't getting any one thing. |

or..... IF you were a person without any morals, scruples, or sense of ethics you could just go to your nearest torrent site and download any of the random torrents that contain hundreds of ESL books (it took me a whole of 6 minutes to find the books mentioned above on tracker sites). But remember... that's a big IF... or a small one, only you know |

Thanks, I went for book 2 after the 2nd class.
Thanks to SSA, too. I may use that one in the future. |
