I have spent over 100,000 won now mailing stuff to the IRS only to find out they needed another document filled out or something was incomplete. I just received a packet from IRS which says I didn't pay the $35 dollars required. However, I did. Way back in October 2008, my credit card was charged.
They have decided to erase the past and start new now that I have given them what they wanted. They want me to fill out the whole application over again and pay another $35.
Should I continue this cycle or just put my hands up and forget it? It's frustrating trying to get this resolved, hoping I have appeased the IRS kings and queens. |

Did you use e-pay? They send you the electronic tracking number by email, then you put that number on the top line of the 8802.
The email actually comes with two numbers, a Pay.gov Tracking ID, and an Agency Tracking ID. That was confusing, so I called them and they told me which one to use. Whichever one it was (I forget now), it worked. Zippy got his about a month after it was sent in.
The email looks like this:
Quote: |
Subject: Pay.Gov Payment Confirmation
THIS IS AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY.

Regular post should get it there ok, and the $35 fee covers their mailing expense sending the certs to the address you put on Line 3a. |

I gave them the correct info the first time. They asked for more information, and when I sent it that's when they said they didn't get paid.
If there was an issue with not getting payment, they would have stated that. |

If you can't call them, I'd say use the Pay.Gov Tracking ID on the top line, then put the Agency Tracking ID on Line 10 for additional information. Or even print out the email and attach that. |
