ok so i just got my first phone in korea....the sph-b8850

dope phone, but i can't figure out how to play mp3's on it. it has this musicON software that i have no clue about. so i just threw some songs on my sd card and thought it would find them and nothing happened...so then i moved them to the "mp3" folder that the phone created and still nothing.

the guy at the LG store said something about having to download some software but i haven't found what he's talking about anywhere. any help would be greatly appreciated. damn this korean instruction manual!

Ask your co-teacher? Another Korean friend? Unless anyone has any specific experience with that model/software no one will know. All the instructions are in Korean. My LG-SH150A uses Melon to transfer files, they need to be converted from MP3 to DCF before they'll play.

For my phone yes. I know several other phones use it too. To download it you need to create an account on their site using your ARC. I don't know if your phone uses it or not.

My phone uses .dcf and I found this site to help me: http://www.quasimondo.com/archives/000521.php#howto. Haven't been able to get it to work completely yet, but haven't spent much time on it, either. Good luck.

I had the exact same problem about 3 months ago. I went out and got this great little phone for next to nothing and put it on a one year plan with SK. After seeing everyone in Korea listening to mp3s on their phone I decided I wanted in too. So I went out and bought a 2 gig SD card and threw some mp3s on it and popped it in my phone. Like you, nothing work. My phone didn't even recognize they were there.

After asking my girlfriend at the the time, she called the phone company and they told her I needed to download that stupid Melon software so it could convert the mp3 and put it on my phone. So since it was all in Korean she set it up for me and I managed to put a couple songs on my phone.

Trust me the method to do this is absolutely ridiculous. You can only convert one song at a time and it's kind of a pain to do it. After fussing about with this stupid software and trying to put a bunch of songs on my phone I just gave up.

Save yourself the trouble and buy an mp3 player. A lot less hassle and easier to use. Korean phone companies don't make it easy to just copy over mp3s to your phone and listen to them. Instead they make install all this software with advertising so MELON can keep controling the market in this area.

Goodluck
