I guess if you're in Bupyeong or more specifically near Bupyeong station, it's not a bad place. That's where I started out. There's a couple of foreigner bars there and the underground shopping, etc. Still though, there are better places. Truthfully, Incheon gets rather old after a couple of months I think. Although I do miss some things about Incheon for whatever reason.

I depends how much you like to do city stuff. I live in Incheon and Bupyeong takes 1/2 an hour for me to reach. To get to place in Seoul it takes me somewhere between an hour to two hours. I usually take the bus but it's still a hassle.

Time become the biggest problem. On the weekends, you'll find yourself leaving an 1 to 2 hours before everyone else, just because you Incheon. That gets old fast. If your lucky to have an express bus pass through your area (like me) you might stay out a little longer.

I remember a time that I forgot my cell phone after planning to meet my friend. We didn't make decide on a meeting spot (stupid I know) and I didn't have my friends number memorized. So I had to ride back to my apartment to call him and make new plans. I rode the bus close to 8 hours that day.

My advice is not to get a hagwon job, don't forget your cellphone, and don't live in Incheon.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY DO NOT COME TO INCHEON!!!

ummm sorry don't know where that came from. But seriously think of the worst/dirtiest city that you know of back home, now picture all the signs in Korean and thats basically Incheon. Its not the armpit of korea, its the plague infected, pus secreting, putrid armpit of Korea!

That being said though, if you live in either guwol-dong or Bupyeong than it isn't so bad. Those are the only two places that are decent to work (shopping, restaurants and foreigner bars). Anywhere else is pure backwater!

Its also good to note that Incheon students have constantly ranked as the worst students to teach in Korea, in terms of both academic ability and classroom management.

the three worst cities in Korea imo:

1. Incheon (as polluted as Seoul but without the amenities)
2. Masan (ugly, traffic-jammed, so many nasty xenophobic experiences)
3. Gwangyang (poorly planned steel making city without Pohang's beaches)

(though I dunno gyonggi province)

Yeah, gotta agree. Stick to Seoul. I live near Incheon and I am in
Seoul every weekend. I have to leave before 11PM so I can get the
last train.

Some good point:

1/ Apartments are cheaper than Seoul
2/ Deokjeokdo, the best beach in Korea, is close

Some bad points:

1/ Polluted
2/ 2nd biggest city, but no Costco
3/ People here are truly insulated, slack-jawed yokels
4/ Only one or two foreign owned restaurants
5/ Parks suck (but that is Korea really)
6/ Closest decent draft beer is Bucheon, Rhythm and Booze
7/ Incheon is in Seoul's culture shadow. (i.e. no culture)

Right now I live in thomasville, about 20 minutes outside Greensboro and about an hour north of Charlotte. My kids mother actually performs a lot in Charlotte at the Visualite.

Graduated from High Point University.

Really. I have been to most beaches in Korea and Seopori Beach
on Deokjeokdo is by far, the best. BUT NOT IN SUMMER. In summer
there are 20 million Koreans there with outdoor noraebongs blaring,
flies, garbage and screaming kids. In May and September, when the
mightey whities go, the beach is great. Big, quiet, picturesque and
close to stores and restaurants, if needed. The next beach over is
even more amazing, but not close to amenities. I've been to Gangwha
Island and it sucks big time. Muddy, small beaches, decayed, rip-off
minbaks. Gangneung is OK, but it is REALLY far away. Haeundae
in Busan is OK if you like a total of about 16 square cm of beach that
you have to pay for.

I have never been to Incheon, but I have heard this enough times to believe it to be true. Still, you guys could be part of some elaborate conspiracy to scare others from coming in and defiling one of Korea's unspoiled gems. Cool

Unspoiled gems? That stinkhole is as spoiled as it gets. I lived in Yeonsudong for a year and it was full of some of the seediest drug addled foreigners I have ever met. Now that the CBCs are in place I doubt they are still there
