Hey all,
I've been offered a position at the Oedae English School in Ansan and I was wondering if anybody who has worked there could offer any input on the school. Lately I've been hearing a lot of horror stories about teaching in Korea (mostly involving poor treatment of foreigners by school directors and violated contracts) and I want to make sure I'm not getting into something regrettable. Everything in the contract looks pretty kosher, but it does seem slightly suspicious that I was offered the position without speaking directly with the school. Rather, the recruiter just called me up and told me they had an opening and would hire me.

Insist on speaking to a foreign teacher working there currently. Also ask to see pics of your apartment, the school, etc. Sounds like a small cool so you should have some leverage.
