Is getting your own housing difficult in Korea? I'm thinking of being in Daegu and am hoping to get my own place... is this difficult to do and how much should I expect to get for key money? I know I will probably also need to hire a realtor...
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!! |

I didn't find it that hard at all. The hardest thing was negotiating with the landlord, but if you tell the real estate guy what you want, he will do it. Things like new wallpaper and flooring.
I had an English speaking guy, so that made things 100% easier.
As for key money, it all depends on the size. For most studio apt. it is 5-15mil + rent each month. For non-rental, expect more like 50-70mil chunsae.
I don't live in Daegu, so I can't help you with areas. |

How does key money work? It's not a deposit, right? So you don't get it back at the end of the term? |

It's a deposit and you get your money back at the end. Make sure your landlord or real estate agent knows a couple months before your housing contract ends that you are planning on leaving... ie need your deposit back. |
