Hi everyone!
I've been hired by SMOE through KoreaConnections and I'll be heading over to Korea sometime in February. I haven't gotten my visa yet but SMOE will be sending me a visa package (for the E2 visa) sometime next week.
The thing is, I wanted to get a F4 visa instead of an E2 visa, but obtaining the documents has been quite difficult since I don't have any relatives in Korea who can send me copies of the family registry. I was planning on just going to Korea and applying for the F4 over there, but it seems like SMOE needs a visa number before I head over to Korea. So now I'm planning on just getting my E2 visa here and then getting my F4 when I get to Korea....if it's possible.
Does anyone know if I can have both an E2 and F4 visa at the same time?
Thanks! |

Getting an F-4 while you're on an E-2 in Korea, will cancel out the E-2. You cannot have 2 visas at the same time. |

F4 visa saves SMOE and your school a ton of paper work. You won't be hassling anyone with it. |

If you have the option, come a bit earlier to Korea and get the paperwork for your F4 straightened out first, then you can start your new job with no problems and you won't need an E2.
It'll save you a bunch of time, paperwork, and money, since you'll have to deal w/Korean bureaucracy two times-- Plus, w/an F4, you're your own person in Korea, not someone's E2 lacky, meaning if you don't like it, they can't kick you out of here and your free to look for something better if you choose to... |

Hey sh917,
so did you go to korea with an E2 visa then applied for F4 while in Korea or did you go to Korea without an E2 visa and just applied for F4? Cuz I have the same problem you did. I'm heading over to Korea in August but I'm not sure what to do. |
