|
|
Hello all..
I am looking for recommendations about Korean Language Courses in the Seoul area..
If I could gather a list of some of the better courses out there that people have done, that would be great..
I have never taken organised Korean classes before but am looking to study hard in a reputable Korean Language Course..
Cheers,
D |

I was looking into this as well. Many community centers offer free courses but it might not be the level you're looking for.
I was looking at the SNU and Yongsei courses but they are 600,000 - 800,000 KRW which seems quite spendy. |

Sookmyung Women's University, Saturday 3pm to 5 pm. They have classes, 4 levels. Decent enough, but you really have to practice a lot on your own or it's not worth it. I went through the 2nd level and picked up a lot of good grammar points and some vocabulary, but moved onto the 3rd level and couldn't keep up. 1st and 2nd levels they speak English and Korean, but level 3 is all Korean and I just wasn't up for that.
Anyway, good people there, came in handy. Anyway, Sookmyung University (Line 4, 1 stop north of Samgakji), walk up the large stairs, walk up the other stairs on the west side of the courtyard. Go to the end of the walk, turn right. The doors on the left side about 20 meters down is where its at. |

These are not classes, but....
I have found the Youtube videos that can be found by searching "korean vocabulary" useful.
Granted they are just vocab, it's very intuitive learning.
They are produced by Koreanclass101.com which seems to be a poorly produced imitation of Chinesepod.com
Nevertheless, it is somewhat of a good thing. |

Where are these stairs?
I assume you meant exit 10, as that's the Sookmyung Womens University exit from Sookmyung Womens University station. And there's a lengthy stairway up from the subway level to street level, and even a little courtyard thing off to the left side.
But after that, nothing. I got lost. Do you mean go through the tunnel in the direction of the University?
I need an "idiots guide" for finding this place.

he means the stairs at the actual university. just go out of sookymung station and follow the signs to the uni. you basically go through a tunnel, cross the street, and go up a slight hill for 10 or 15 minutes. you'll get to the uni which has campuses on both sides of the road. you wanna be going to the campus with the big stairs. its on your left if you walk from the station, |

| YBM ELS in Gangnam (out of exit 6) is not bad. They have several levels (6 I think) and aren't very expensive. Heavy grammar focus and not much free talking in the lower levels, but not a bad course overall. I learned a lot. |

| Does anyone know if there are any courses available in Konkuk University? I live fairly close so it would be ideal for me. |

i'm pretty sure they do, but their website is being redone or something so all i can find is the following link - http://www.konkuk.ac.kr/eng/new/sub/2_Admission/ku021.php - even though they apparently used to have a full site for the language school. |

full time or part time courses?
for full time - Sogang University. Way better than the likes of Yonsei . I believe they might do part time evening courses too.
