| Anyone hear about a general pay raise for Jeollado public school teachers beginning in May? I was told this would happen but it was never really official (suprise). I want to have my facts straight before asking my school about it. |

If you are with EPIK, you should've gotten 100K won pay raise when you signed a new contract on or after March 2009. |

| Please forgive the part 2 of a one part question but...Is jeollanamdo part of EPIK? Here's the deal...my recruiter and the Rep. from Jeollanamdo schools both told me I'd get a raise in May as part of a general salary increase (my contract started March 30th). Of course nothing was in writing. So I guess I'm specifically asking Jeollanamdo teachers: Did you get a raise in May? Did you hear about this salary increase? |

Yes, It is true.
Teachers in Jeolla province who came through EPIK should get a 100,000-200,00 won pay raise (depending on what step they are at). The raises go into effect as early as May and as late as August depending on your school. So it is really luck of the draw I guess.
Unfortunately, because my boyfriend and I live in a rural location, we were told last month that we would not qualify for a pay increase. So I may not be surprised if there are other exceptions as well...
You should contact the POE. |
