I would like to know what people's experiences are of accomodation in Seoul that came as part of their contract package? I'm seriously thinking of atleast a year's stint teaching english in the Seoul area but do not relish the idea of living in a tin box. Is air-con standard? From what I can gather in this forum there seems to be quite a few teachers who choose to find their own accomodation. Is this wise to start with? Any other tips or advice greatly appreciated. |

best advice i can give is come over here before you start looking for a job. then you can see the school, meet your director and fellow workers and see your apartment.
it won't be a tin-box, it will be a concrete box. air con is pretty much standard i think. if not a couple of well places fans do a good job. can't really think of what else to write. just a room, with a bed, small kitchen and bathroom usually. |

Seoul is very expensive, so it would be difficult for a school to provide teachers with good housing. I think this is understandable. If you want a nice place, take a housing allowance and add your own money, but I think if would be very rare for a school to pay for a nice place as single accomodation. |
