I've been at my elementary PS for 1.5 years now and everything has gone smoothly. My Principal will be retiring after this summer break and the rumour is that the VP will take his place.
On Monday I was walking to work and the sidewalk leading to the school is pretty narrow. I was in a rush because I needed to print some things off before class. The sidewalk was full of children who move like frozen molasses so I went by them on the street. My VP happened to be standing at the school's gate and told me not to do that again. Ok, I thought, walking on the street isn't a great model for the kids.
This morning I arrived at school listening to music like normal. She was standing at the front doors. I removed my earphones and greeted her. She looked displeased and asked if I always listen to music. I told her I have an hour+ commute, so yes I usually listen to music. She said I shouldn't listen to it on the street.
Just now one of my classes got cancelled and she came to the subject teachers' office where I'm working on a lesson. After looking around for 10 minutes, she tells me to tidy up my shoes (2 pairs uder my desk), and then to organize the 100 different wires for all the computers, phones, printers, etc. Because it's very important and that's my job apparently.
I was so happy to leave the world of power trips and stupidity after leaving hogwan hell. Now I can see it's going to be a long 6 months after my gracious and kind Principal leaves. Sigh. |

Time to move on it sounds like. I'd remove the earphones prior to getting to the school gate. Anything other than that I think it's none of her business what you do.
If she keeps all of this up I'd confront her and ask her to back off. Of course this would most likely ruin your job and depending on your future plans may not be in your best interest. But someone telling you to tiddy up the computer wires is unreasonable.
Stand up for yourself and show them you're a person! |

I'd be "Yes sir, I'll get right on it." Then I'd un-plug them all and then plug them back into different sockets. |

Thirded. When everybody loses an afternoon of work cause nothing works, you can say you did it cause the VP told you to.
And use tape. Lot's and lot's of tape. Wrap those suckers up so there's one gigantic duct tape snake running across the floor. |

I think he is telling you that your time is up in 6 months.
He will be deciding if you stay or you go if I am not mistaken. (Now I have read the OP again - maybe not - but I am sure he will still be having a word with the VP - how do you get on with him?)
If you are not re-signing - tell him to sod off and to behave himself! If you are not coming back to Korea - put a bag of sugar in his petrol tank. |

UrbanMyth, that's hilarious. What I did was walk over and kick the one shoe that was 'out of line' over to the others and then went back to the computer I was working on. My Principal has always been ace with me and we had another (senior) VP last year who just kept his distance. This VP has been looking for extra work for me all semester and when the P approved my summer vacation she called me lucky and said I should be grateful (she tried to block it). I replied, with a poop-eating grin, that actually the K teachers are lucky to have the entire summer off.
Now she only speaks to me in Korean and tells me that I should know more of it. Hey, I only started even considering Korean 3 years ago. I've studied French my whole life and I'm almost fluent in that. Hey, VP, haven't you studied English your whole life?
Of course I didn't say that. I like my job and want the reference. But like UM's suggestion, it's fun to think about. |

Wait til she's drunk. You'll get a better idea about your future at the school. |
