I'm in Busan and in January I bit the bullet and got my hair cut at the Blue Club across from the Lottemart in Dongnae, by my place. I asked for a trim and came out looking like a monk, which was the only thing left to do after the barber started getting creative in her own way.
Well, now I'm looking like a caveman again and I want to get something that won't make me look like a skinhead for a month, so are there any recommendations for places to go in Busan, preferably with an English speaking stylist? |

Blue Club is cheap and nasty.
They normally leave you with the wedge shape up from behind the ears and try to make everyone look like Chinese ping-pong players.
Try looking for a nice place, at least 10K a cut, and they will have better trained staff.
Miming the length you want it cut to with your fingers as scissors, and showing the sides to be flat not wedge shapped is a good start.
You can get some surprisingly good results. |

I've learned to embrace my new Asian haircut. My helmet-head mane flows like water from mountains. |

Yup. Just came back from my local salon with a classic spock/salaryman cut. Cost 8000 though, so can't complain. Will blend in with my students now, though |

Go to your local electronics arcade (Technomart, Yongsan, or even Emart), invest in some GOOD hair clippers (Phillips, Braun, or Wahl-if you can find the latter), and shave away using your preferred guard. Pays for itself after 2 or 3 uses. Looking like a K-protestor or buddhist monk beats the salaryman look any day of the week. Unless you're heading back home, your neoNazi look won't offend anyone |

Took me 4.5 years to find a place I trusted to cut my hair. It is remarkable how bad the different haircuts I have had have been. I have spent from 5,000 to 30,000 at different places and they were all terrible. However, the place I go to now is great. They do a great job and I full trust them. It costs 10,000 won. |

All well and good, but where are these trusted few places? Names, people, give me names! Err...Well, in Busan, anyway. |

i've had good experiences going to hair salons (not barbers). almost all female stylists...and fashionable....so they know the ajosshi cut is simply a no no. nvague is one i frequent...i believe they're a chain. cost about 15k....including a very err...sensual...err...head shampoo/massage.
just don't ask the pretty girls what they did before working there... |

JUNO.
They are a dime a dozen up here around Seoul. They give you a wash, cut your hair, another wash and head massage, another cut and you're good to go. best 20,000 won haircut i've ever got.
however, FYI, i think the english speaking stylists cost around 40,000 won. |

+1
get my hair cut at Juno's. My stylist doesnt speak English but she's real cute and we get along with miming and my limited Korean.
I usually fall asleep 4 or 5 times whenever I go.
A similar cut at such a place in the west would run you about 50 bones or so. And they usually dont give you a neck massage |

And please fellas, show some class and tip your stylist. Whether or not it's customary, it's an appreciation thing. 2-3000w is fine. No arguments, Just Do It, damnit. |

My barber was easy to find: I just searched for the hottest girl with the biggest breasteses.
Hair cut was good too. But DO NOT TIP unless you're at the "special" barber shop fellas.
