If I leave a week and a half early (contract ends August 31) and my flight is August 21st do I still get my severance pay? I am using all of my vacation days at the end. Who pays my severance anyway? Do I get it in my last paycheck?

Thanks.

Of course you'll get your severance if your leaving early was prearranged between you and your school. I am with EPIK and will use my 2 wk remaining vacation to leave early also (contract end Aug 31). I was told to leave my school my bank account information (Korean bank or bank at home), and all the money owed (severance and airfare reimbursement) to me will be deposited in that account between 2 wks and 2 months after my contract end date. Remember your pension is separate from this money, and you have to apply for that no sooner than 30 days before your departure from Korea.

ok thanks for the info.

i got lucky with the plane ticket reimbursement-- i just give them a reservation number from asiana or korean air and they pay for it, so I don't have to tie up my money.

It's been fun but I'm excited to come home!

Well, you have to trust the school not to try to screw you, and even if it's a public school you can't be guaranteed they won't try it.

Getting it two months later is unacceptable, also, since labor law says 14 days.
