So we might end up staying in Korea the end of July for our summer vacation. So, what are some good places to visit in Korea that might not be AS crowded or AS humid as others, if possible?
We're thinking about maybe along the East Coast and Ulleungdo, or the South coast islands, maybe Jeju. Any other ideas? We can do one week or so trip or a few shorter 2-3 day trips. We live an hour from Seoul. |

| I like sokcho, great beach cheap accom. I went during cheosoek so there was nobody there. from there you can head up to soraksan (sp) do some hiking, or head south. It's a nice area |

I'm doing the same thing, and would appreciate others ideas as well.
I'm tentatively planning to head down to jeonlanamdo and maybe go to a few islands, then maybe over to Busan and back up to home (Incheon). If anyone can recommend stuff along the southern coast I'd love to hear about it. |

For one of the best beaches and longest beaches in Korea, head to Imjado, about an hour due west of Kwangju. You take a 15-minute ferry from the pier at the end of Jido island (not to be confused with JiN-do island of the "Moses miracle" and Jindo dogs fame further south), then it's about 5 kms from the pier to the beach on the other side of the island. You can catch a bus from Kwangju bus terminal to the pier in Jido, but there's no real public transport on the island itself, except for a taxi or two, so your own wheels are really the best choice once on Imja if you don't want to walk the 5 kms to the beach (which is also doable, since it's very flat)
There's not much to do other than sit on the wonderful beach and swim.... On the beach side, there's a convenience store, a couple of minbaks, and some wooded shady areas (great for camping for a couple of nights) and very few people. It's in Shinan county. Check out some of the banner photos on this cafe daum site, or do an image search through any K-website.

As an avid beach-goer, it definitely beats Jeju beaches and most of the East coast ones, too... |
