My school wants me to get an HIV test before I go over there. Is this normal? |

No, because you'll just have to have another when you get here. |

Just tell them that you don't believe in sex before marriage.
The monkey is right. You will have to do one over here anyway. They might be trying to insure that they aren't wasting their investment. But then I wonder why they aren't making you get a drug test too.
Bottom line, not normal. |

If you get it done at a health department you might not have to pay for it. Then you can bring the results with you so you might not have to get it done again here. |

Oh... yes you will!
Ks know how promiscuous we waygooken are. Even if one was to have the HIV test done immediately before boarding a non-stop flight to K-land, there's always a good chance one will join the 'mile high club' on the way over. |

You will have to have a full medical check when you arrive in Korea, so not much point in just getting aids / drugs tests in the US.
All foreigners are tested for AIDS, TB, Hepatitis, Blood Alchohol level, & possibly presence of drugs? I also got a dental inspection, hearing test & eye test. I even got a color blindness exam, which I haven't had since I was a kid. Should cost around $40 US (50K won) to $60 US (75K won) depending on which Korean hospital your school refers you to.
It's relatively quick & painless, compared with the US Health care system. |
