My husband and I booked our flights for a holiday in China this summer and I was looking at the prices that travel agents offer for tourist visas and they are quite high. It seems it would be more than half price if we were able to drop by the Chinese embassy in Seoul or consulate in Busan. Unfortunatley we are out in the country side and it would be impossible to do it ourselves.
Do you know of a travel agency that offers services in English or Korean that does it without such a steep mark up?
Thank you!

if you can't read korean, get someone to help you.
here's a list of agents authorised by the chinese embassy. if they charge you more than 20k above the embassy price you can complain to the embassy.
if you're american the price is very high. more than 120k i think. |

We just bought our Chinese visas from Xanadu. They marked it up 10,000 won so they could turn a profit. The prices are different for Americans than they are for other nationalities.
I know that Xanadu will mail your passport + visa back to you (or your school if you won't be home) and it's possible that they'll allow you to mail the information/passport to them, too. |
