Okay I am completely editing this post so if the first few answers seem a little strange thats why
Okay I am flying into Hong Kong a Wednesday evening and out on Sunday afternoon. The problem is I don't really know anything about Hong Kong always just assumed it was a city island and that was it.
So if you were going what would you see/do? (on a budget)
Victoria peak, the Buddha, Lantau Island maybe a daytrip to Macau?
I am not really a big city person, bit antisocial and big bars freak me out a little, more of a hiking exploring random places type person.
So what would you see?
Cheers

| You could go to Macau for a day. I think it is nice to stay on Lhamma Island in a guest house. It is nice and the prices are cheaper than the city. There is a boat that goes from central to Lhamma island many times a day. HK can be expensive so be prepared to spend for decent accom in the city. I don't like the cheaper places in Kowloon and places but Lhamma Island is nice. |

Accomodation is not that expensive. I booked a 3 star room in Kowloon for this July for $45 a night which isn't much more than a Korean Love Motel.
Hong Kong isn't that expensive, as long as your aren't in the very touristy areas, and even there, there is good food to be found a reasonable price.
Some things to see:
The Harbour, it's is THAT impressive, especially at night. Take a trip on a junk in Aberdeen Harbour. Some nice (overly touristy though) floating restaraunts there too.
Head up Victoria Peak, great view of the city. Tip. Go during the late afternoon, get a nice day view, catch the sunset and then eat at one of the many restaurants up there. (Some are pricy, but there's even a McDonalds if you're on a budget) and browse through some the shops. Then after you've killed an hour or two, check out the skyline at night, this way you can see daytime, nightime and sunset...The easiest is to take the cable car up and down.
Shopping: Mong-Kok is the shopping area, lots to see (obviously having lived in Asia will make the electronics less "amazing") and good prices. MUCH CHEAPER than Korea for almost everything. Probably cheaper than where you're from too.
There are some cool museums too, I liked the "History of Hong Kong Museum" (name is wrong, I'm sure, but you can google it). It shows the Hong Kong's transformation from a small trading post to a World Trade Centre and now, part of China, interesting, and in English.
Lantau Island is great just for some fresh air, some nice beaches and a REALLY big Buddha statue, take the ferry, good for a half-3/4 day trip.
Macau, nice day trip...interesting.

Pretty dumb question mate. Hong Kong is a major city, with a very interesting history, and is the classic "East meets West" destination. It's almost like asking "is it worth spending 3 days in New York". Hong Kong's my favourite destination, and I'll be going for my 3rd time this July. So yea, I'd do it |

Anyway, I like Hong Kong because it has a lot of great food, great views, is lively, and easy to get around. If you like cities, you'll like HKG. |

The variety of people and the lack of staring.
The mixture of eastern and western architecture.
The layout of the city.
The charm and uniquness of the city.
