This is from the Hank Kim newsletter I received via email. I ordered the Cd and received it, without charge at that. It's great.

Free CDs with Korean Pronunciation Guide -- The National Academy of the Korean Language is supplying free CDs that teach the pronunciation of Hangeul [Korean letters] to English-speaking foreigners. The Korean pronunciation CD guide will be available until Mar. 31. You can request one or more CDs by phone (2669-9762) or e-mail ([email protected]) and will be charged only for the delivery.

Didn't realize it was free!

There was an article about this in the Korea Times on January 29th, entitled "Pronounce Korean Like a Native Speaker".

The contact guy's name is Kim Sun-chul. The newspaper gives a different phone number: (02) 2669-9737.

Why would you pay someone ? Why haven't you already sent the guy noted in the post an e-mail submitting your mailing address ??

The CD teaches ONLY Hangeul pronounciation? The alphabet only? Doesn't teach anything else?

I found an email address to inquire about this CD, and lo and behold one arrived in the mail today, no email response or cover letter. I did have to pay 3500 won for postage due. It actually looks pretty good; you can record your voice and compare your pronounciation with a native speaker, and there is an extensive section on intonation and sound changes. Pretty good product considering the price!

How did you have to pay 3500 for postage? Did you have to sign for the package?

I got mine sent to me for free, no questions asked.

I didn't even know they were sending it. It just arrived, postage due 3500 won, no note, no return address, nothing. Not that I'm complaining, for 3500 won it's worth it.

Just to let everyone know they're out of CDs, but will have a new batch in a while and they will announce it again.
