Hi All--
My first post here, so please forgive any newbie errors Confused
I saw a posting on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago for a summer camp at YP English Village, sent in my resume, and hadnt heard anything until last night. Got an email late saying I'd be hired if I could quickly get a criminal background check. Didn't have an interview. No phone call, even, and the camp supposedly starts in a week or so, and I'm in San Francisco! The recruiter (I don't think he or she actually knows much about the Village) has provided a number I can call to ask questions, but this sounds a bit shady...Ultimately I would love to get some feedback on this YP English Village and know if conditions are OK, if people are getting paid, etc. The website for the Village and the pics look good, but I know looks can be deceiving...I'm wondering why I'd be hired and flown to Korea--they're supposedly covering airfare--when there are probably many teachers in-country that could fill this job.
Thanks for any feedback anyone can provide!!

Does YP stand for Yangpyeong?

If so, avoid it like the plague.

It's in the middle of nowhere and is run by the Seventh Day Adventist church. They have some rather draconian rules for their teachers - for example, no smoking, drinking, or members of the opposite sex in your apartment. They're not shy about increasing their teachers hours for the same pay either.
