maxpowershop is down. I can't register at speedns or mass119.

I don't want to pay high s/h at bodybuilding.com

gmarket only sells Korean stuff, that I can find... and that site is a clusterfuck anyways.

Any other sites out there?

Unfortunately Korean sites usually require a national ID number, and our ID numbers don't work. I order from Mass119 through my girlfriend's ID. I know it's a pain and you shouldn't have to, but I think it would be best to get a Korean co-worker or friend to order for you.

I've found the best thing to do is just buy protein from Gmarket. The brand that I'm linking now is an official distributor for Optimum Nutrition, which is an American company that I've been buying from for years.

http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=102999282

Short of that, get a someone with an ID # to but it for you online.

I didn't read the carb amount or the serving size. I am assuming the serving size is small. You need the carbs. Especially after a workout. The carbs will decrease your cortisol levels, decreasing catabolism (which works against muscle repair). It's also a waste of money to take supplements of this nature unless it's within a half hour of a workout.

I easily get my carbs from other sources.

And it is far from a waste of money, regardless of when you take it, as long as your total protein intake for the day matches what you need to keep building...

Your daily total caloric intake should exceed what you burn off by a few hundred cals, ideally, if you want to keep growing. Granted there's a window of time after the workout where it's great to take this stuff but as you know your body doesn't stop needing protein the other 23 1/2 hours of the day.

I agree that you need protein all through the day. If you have fat stored on you, then I may disagree on the carbs all day. Anyway, products like MetRX and Myoplex back in the west contain Whey protein isolates which are small chain amino's that were engineered to be highly absorbable quickly. That's what I was refering to in regard to using specific protein products at specific times. Yes you can cook up some eggs or eat tuna after a workout. The disadvantage to this, these proteins are absorbed slower than the "engineered" proteins. There's a specific reason for the small chain amino's in MetRx and Myoplex. I assumed the Korean products followed suite. They may have been dumb on my part!!

Same with the carbs. The carbs in MetRX and Myoplex are low density carbs which are absorbed quickly. Yes you could eat a donut after working out and absorb the carbs over a 3 month period. The carbs in said products will absorb quickly increasing your insulin concentration and shut down the cortisol pathway, etc. You want that as soon as possible after an exhaustive workout. When you are not working out, don't use the products, it's a waste.

As you are aware, eat smart all the time. There is just no real advantage to consuming quality products like MetRX and Myoplex other than directly after a solid workout.

you might check out iherb.com

i'm not exactly sure how much shipping will cost you (it depends on weight) but the prices are pretty good and i just ordered some stuff including whey protein (and some other supplements and stuff) that i think was about 5lbs of stuff and the shipping was $15 and i know if you the order is 3lbs or less its $10.

I seen them sold pretty cheap at Namdaemun. 40,000 for a bag that would've cost $60 in the States.

Nice advice, but could you narrow it down a little? Where in Namdaemun? I'm really close to being out of Egg protein powder (I'm lactose intolerant and soy is useless stuff) but I don't wanna spend another 70,000.

Try 82,000 for a 5 pound tub of Gold Standard OnWhey, or 135,000 for the 10 pound bag.

GNC stuff is the same price. I was there on the weekend.

At Namdaemun Market you look for the Imported Goods Market. It's hard to give directions, but it's underground, and the entrance is a covered walkway with stairs leading down, but it's more like a ramp than a staircase.

I think the best way to get there is to walk out of the subway exit to your right and walk downhill for a while. It should be on your right. Sorry for the bad directions...

Sorry, I'm not very familiar with Namdaemun and its been a while since I last been there. I stumbled on it by accident. But there is a section that sells all sorts of stuff you would be able to get in the states like Whey protein, glucosamine pills, Advil, etc. I'm just not sure where.
