I live in Jeonnam province and have not seen Seoul yet. I have some friends who will be visiting from the US and we will stay in Seoul for a couple nights. Can anyone recommend some budget accomodations in Seoul in a decent location? Someplace not too dodgy since this will be my friends' first impression of Korea. |

A website set up be the Seoul city gov't specializing in affordable accomodation in Seoul.
Most areas of Seoul are okay to stay in; the area you choose should be in the environs to the parts of Seoul you plan on spending time in. Nothing wrong with the Sinchon or Hongdae areas, downtown (Gwanghwamun) area...staying near Insadong, or Myeongdong or anywhere in the Jongno area would ensure you are near a lot of tourist stuff.
I don't recommend the budget hotels and motels in Itaewon though. They are yucky.
The truth is, you can probably just show up in Seoul and find a motel or yeogwon to stay in; they are everywhere in the city! |

They offer a huge discount off published rates and is locally run here in Korea, which makes it even cheaper. |
