Do we get paid for orientation and if we do, how much and how is it paid?

If the orientation starts on the 24th of August then that is when you will start being paid at your contract rate

It is the beginning of your contract - what you signed and what was the agreed salary scale.

So there is no extra money, no less money. It is like you have already started working.

Hope that is clear.

I think it's ridiculous that you get paid to go to the orientation. It's not like your working is it.

l don't think it's ridiculous at all. I'd rather be at work than locked in some compound listening to boring lectures all day.

So you don't believe that any company anywhere should offer their employees "Paid Training"?

The EPIK orientation week has never been paid and included in your salary, and wont be this year either. How come the SMOE orientation is going to be?

Are you sure it is being paid for SMOE ? Where is it written? I thought the salary started when you were handed over to your school at the end of orientation..

The salary starts on the contract start date, which is August 25. So I guess the first day of orientation is unpaid. That's fine though, I attended the unpaid EPIK orientation last year, which was scheduled completely outside the one-year contract period.
