Hi there,

As we all know, many of us come here for "just one year" but then something happens and before we know it, we're starting a family in a foreign land. It can often be difficult for an expat who is just settling in by themselves. However, making or having a family abroad can certainly be a unexpected and more complicated twist causing all types of stress, concerns and millions of questions.

Where does one go to get help and information about where to get the things that parents and their children need in S. Korea? What if you'd like to meet up with other parents from you area? Would you like to know where you can take the kids to keep them entertained for the weekend...the summer?

Maybe on the other hand, you've lived here for years...had kids and now you're an untapped fountain of information.

In either case, please visit the K CAFE (Korea Caregiver and Family Environment) for Expats http://www.thekcafe.wordpress.com and become part of our social/information network. If you're mostly interested in meeting up...then visit us at http://www.meetup.com/The-K-CAFE-for-Expats/ our first meet up will be Jul 18th at 3:00pm in Seoul.

Thanks for reading and if you have any other questions, please contact us at [email protected]. We look forward to supporting and growing with your expat/blended family.

All the best,
the K~CAFE

Too bad most of these parent meet-up things are usually happening around Seoul. If something like this was happening around Daegu...I could bring my little monsters around.

Yes, that is a complaint I hear often...but actually I am hoping that by getting people involved (and on our interactive calendar) we can assist with the planning of meet ups in other areas (like Daegu) as well. So far I have only been able to contact a play group in Daejeon to work with them about posting on our sites, but if you know of (or would like to start) something in Daegu, we hope to be able to help with that.

Basically, we'd like to be a "go to" place for all areas of S. Korea, not just Seoul (I myself live in Incheon, so I completely understand wanting something in your own area). If there's something going on in other areas and we hear about it we will help get people there by posting on our site. Think about it and let us know if there's something we can help with in Daegu.
