Keep your hair short and your face clean shaven.
Avoid folk music festivals and people who use the word groovy.
Continue eating red meat when everyone around you is becoming a vegetarian.
Avoid Yoga and meditation.
Avoid people who talk about Karma and play with Tarot cards.
If you run into a person who likes The Greatful Dead turn around run and keep running.
Reject conceptual art and people who do odd things in the name of art and justify it with a lot of Postmodernist jargon. |

No temptation here.
I've had quite enough of those hacky sack kickin', tie dye wearing, shitty jam band listening, dreadlock growing, sandal wearing folk in college.
I want to gouge out my ears with a rusty knife when I hear the Dead, Phish, String Cheese, Dave Matthews or anybody else who "jams" for 10 minutes each song.
Didn't they get the memo? THE BUMS FUCKING LOST, MAN. |

the op has stated before that he believes in fan death, eats dogs and gets angry at waygooks who cut fat off of their samgyupsal
i personally would shake the hand of any Korean who had the hippy look: it is so rare to see any deviation from the cultural norm around here |

At least Korean hippies wash. Ever stayed in a guest house on Kho san road. There is a collective stink of unwashed bodies. |

I saw a K-dude with dreadlocks down to his waist in Jamsil on Friday. Totally took me by surprise.
I am down with anything outside the cultural norm as well. As long as it doesn't involve hippies or wiggers.
K-dudes with Eminem shirts on and baggy, sagging pants look retarded. The same goes for white dudes. |

Even Korean punk rockers or skinheads don't look as funny as Korean hippies. It tends to look really silly when they are in a suit with a pony tail |

One of the coolest Koreans I ever met was an artist who spent years in France and sold his work to galleries in Seoul, he sporting a ponytail with a suit while making his rounds.
Korean men squatting while wearing a suit, now THAT is hilarious! |

I've been doing this since 15 years old.
The most stressed-out and hung-up people I know are hippies o,f some kind. They bottle so much up and are in constant denial. It's like a constant battle for them to deny themselves what they would really like to do.
Be piggish occasionally. Eat meat. Enjoy aggresive music, it's liberating.
Cut your hair. It's far less trouble after you cut your hair. Takes, like, 2 minutes per day to take care of. |

I do find yoga to be beneficial as I am incredibly clumsy and it helps me be more aware of my body... and stand up straighter. Meditation can be very beneficial. I practiced Zazen for a couple months but I just don't have the obedience to keep any kind of routine. So, maybe it didn't work that well? If you're a bit more oi, you may want to check out Hardcore Zen. It's a cute little book about a dude who went all Zen and now makes monster movies in Japan.
People are always shocked that I am a crazed carnivore. My sis is the most adorable vegetarian (pescetarian actually) who sneaks meat when her veg husband isn't around (or when she's on the rag).
Anyway, I'm very American in that I subscribe to the "cafeteria" lifestyle of just picking and choosing bits of ideas and cultures that I like. I suppose if I am to be anything it's probably just a yippie or what have you. That "Stuff White People Like" site pretty much has my number!
Oh... and I favor boys with thick, bushy, Pac NW beards. |

Yeah, I'm not really into the hippie stuff myself. I'm too conservative (I don't mean politically conservative) for that stuff. There are a lot of hippie types in my province, so I'm used to them. I don't mind hippies really, so long as they don't try to push their airy fairy stuff on me, I'll take them over redneck types, hippies are more mellow. |

Depends whether the punk is a crusty. A crusty is a punk who's into bands like Crass/Conflict Flux of Pink Indians. These types are usually vegetarians and attend peace marches. These people are borderline hippies.
Actually a lot of Heavy metal fashion and punk fashion is similar. Studded leather.Lemmy the singer from Motorhead loved The Damned and cites them as an influence.
No one hates hippies more than John Lydon.AKA Rotten |

I usually listen to a lot of (not as much these days though) old school hardcore Black Flag, Agnostic Front. My brother recently got me into Lars Fredricksen and the Bastards and that was pretty decent. OP IVY was nice too...
These days however I'm digging on my jazz fusion and smooth jazz...but I wouldn;'t label that hippie music though.... |
