I am thinking of getting a pc built. I need it for word processing, surfing, burning dvd's. Sound and movie editing. I dont need it for gaming. What kind of specs do I need? Ideally I would like a 320Gb hard drive. I am used to XP and would NOT like to move to vista. I already have a monitor.
Where do you recommend I buy it? Is it possible to get this for under 600,000 won? I live in Seoul

Thanks

Easily. You could get a system with a 1TB drive for that, if you're not interested in 3D graphics. Or even if you are. Hard drives are getting really cheap these days.

Take a trip to Sunin-Plaza in Yongsan and pick one of the off-the-peg machines.

They range from around 400,000 to 1.2million (not including monitor). For your needs, I wouldn't spend more than 700,000.

If you ask nicely, they'll install a pirated version of English Windows for free.

I would advise anyone who still believes the 2 year old internet hype that Vista is awful and that they want to stick with XP to reconsider.......

..........XP will not be supported by MS for much longer. Also, the software companies are writing their software with Vista and W7 in mind these days. Not XP.

Believe me, after 2 hours using Vista or Windows 7, you'll be asking yourself why you stuck with XP for so long.

Be sure to get 64-bit Windows if you want to use 4GB of RAM.

I's still stay away from Vista, I regretted moving to it, but I'm here now, although I will say it is rock solid stable; more stable than XP.

Windows 7 looks great, get that.
