Hi there i am just kind of sketched out by the contract my potential employer send me:

Lease Cancellation: In the event that employee vacates employer-provided accommodation during the contract term, and the lease for the accommodation must be canceled, employee agrees to pay any cancellation charges or other expenses, if any, incurred by employer due to the cancellation of the lease of the accommodation employer originally found for employee.

Is this standard? its seems kind of sketchy to me, has anyoone encountered anything similar? How much would it cost to cancel a lease?

Thanks for your help and insight in advance!

Cheers,

Patrick from Canada

Don't sign with that school. Sounds like they got burned by a runner in the past and if they are willing to put this in the contract, they may very well be harboring a grudge.

This is how the conversation should go.

FT: "Could you please take out that part of the contract? I don't feel comfortable with it in.

School: "No, we want to keep it in."

FT: "Right then, goodbye and good luck."

If however they agree and you feel comfortable with the rest of the contract, then why not sign?
