Ok, here's the deal.

My school is going under construction from July 17th to August 26th. Now, I work in an afterschool program. My manager has talked to me about this and my vacation is in july (5 working days plus weekends = 9 days total), and she has said I can't work at my normal school due to construction and no classes.

She said I probably want money and thus I should work (I could probably not work the extra days until the school opens, but I won't be paid). She has said if the principal agrees to let me work at another school then I can share my visa with another school for those days and it will allow me to work. EDIT: She has told me that she must go to immigration to report this and do some paper work to allow me to share the visa for that time frame.

She has told me the new school is under the same exact program as mine and the hours and pay and everything is the same (also it's close to my home, but futhur than my current job).

Does this sound ok? It seems logical to me, but I wanted to post here to make sure nothing funky was going on or if this is some kind of trick. If I share my visa, will I have to get a new ARC? Should I not work until I get that new ARC? What should I do in this situation?

Should the school pay me regardless of the construction and their blunder with that timing?

Should I request some paperwork that is signed by both immigration officer and pricinpal and manager that is dated and shows when I will be allowed to work for 2 schools and what not? As a sort of proof of my own incase something goes south? I don't want my word alone against anyones.

You will be fine...this is perfectly legal. No you do not have to get a new ARC...if Immigration okays it, it will be added to the back of your current ARC card. Check it when you get it back...it should have some sort of stamp on the back or writing. That is all the paperwork you require.

Given the information you have provided, nothing sounds funky...unless there is something you aren't telling us, or something your co-teacher isn't telling you.

I don't deal with my coteacher. I work solely with my manager (she is very busy but meets me once a week or so). EDIT: My coteacher is about useless and just quit and my new coteacher will be here tomorrow. It's fine since I never worked with her anyway. I am honestly not sure if she was fired or quit....she told me she quit to move to canada.

I have given all facts as accurate as I can. She didn't ask me for my ARC yet. She wouldn't ask me for it until meeting and giving me all the facts. She knows I am nervous about legal things and very strict, and I do my research. She probably didn't ask for the ARC because it would make me freak out before she explains everything in person.

I may ask for her to do the immigration work while I am on vacation (I will ask for my vacation from the 17th until the 27th. I will try to get my ARC back during or at the end of the vacation. Does this sound fair? Or should she do this sooner? (She will meet me on Thursday to tell me more details about everything)

I didn't think there was a legal problem but I wanted to ask to be sure. So I am expecting a stamp or something on the back of my ARC? Thanks, and any other advice or comments are welcome.

PS - forgot to mention I am on an E2 visa

Is this the same process to get a second school position on an E2 visa? I am on an E2, so I thought a second job would be impossible. I understand in my situation the school is closing down for a month and thus I am not working 2 jobs at the same time. If I wanted a second job could I repeat this process? Meaning, if the principal agrees and I get another school position I can share my visa/arc? Or does this only work in a situation like mine? and not possible under normal circumstances?
