I'm overpaying(?) SK at W35k/month for just regular internet.
Link me to updated deals or whatever if you know of any.
An internet and TV combo would be best I guess.
I don't mind paying a little more actually if the quality/consistency is good and I get TV too.
Thanks! |

CNM Cable seems to be all over the place. You'll probably do well signing up with them. |

What's regular internet? I'm paying 30ish for KT, at speeds of 30Mb/10Mb down/up. What are your speeds? Honestly, I think 30k/month for 30/10 is pretty wicked, and I don't feel ripped in the slightest. |

You can pay from about 16000 (cable light) won and splice the cable (gets you like 60 channels). There are package programs but you need to sign up with a Korean for like 3 years. |

I get basic digital cable TV and internet from GS for 38,500 per month. Because I'm Australian, one of the things I liked about it was Australia Network. There's a lot of crap on it, but some good stuff too. I don't watch it that often, but like to have it there. So imagine my annoyance when I got a new channel guide in the mail a few weeks ago and hoju network is now in the premium package!!
I had a Korean friend call GS for me, and see if I could somehow have hoju network back without paying more. No dice. He argued with them for a while but they wouldn't budge. It isn't that I watched it all the time, it's just that I'm pissed that they took it away and I still get charged the same amount. I never had cable in Oz, so I have no idea whether this is normal behaviour for a cable provider.
So now I'm looking into my options. Apparently Sky Life www.skylife.co.kr will give you internet and Cable with 170-odd channels for about the same price as I'm already paying if I sign for a year. As I'm considering staying that long, I might try them out.
Does anyone use Sky Life? Channel recommendations? Any other company/package recommendations?
Also, I remember my friend had a really good cable deal last year that worked a bit like Tivo. She would set programs to download to her cable box and watch them whenever she liked. It was in Korean, but most stuff was just transliterated from English, so she had managed to work it out. Does anyone know who provides this and if so, how much it costs?
Cheers |

Skylife doesn't have Australia Network, so I'd just pay the extra to GS to get it.
I'm thinking of getting Skylife because it seems to have more HD channels and stuff that digital cable doesn't have, namely Star Sports in English, AXN Asia and BBC Entertainment. Plus I'd pay 9,000 won less per month. |

Thanks Yaya, it's almost a matter of principle though! I like to have Australia Network there (especially since I was apparently paying for it before), but not enough to pay the extra. I might change anyway for all the extra channels. The more English ones the better.
Anyone know about the download service I mentioned above, or can recommend any other cable/internet providers? |
