I have a friend here in Korea who is looking for a summer camp position for the end of July and August. She's having difficulty getting a position because she is of African American descent. Anyway have any leads that could help her land a job for the summer?

Any help is much welcomed!

Thanks in advance.

I have never seen an African American teacher at summer camps.

That says it all about Korea.

Are you sure they're American? Could be African Canadians... I hear those are alot sneakier.

Has she been told that directly because of her skin colour? or is the race card being played here?

In the past, for other jobs, she was told point blank that they didn't hire black people.

Because of her teaching experience, field of education and her willingness to work (she's already in Korea!), it's hard to think of why a month and a half of intense job searching hasn't been fruitful.

This is information a good friend gave me, she got a camp job last summer here. I didn't use them as I found something else. Give it a go!

Quote:
"They are/were a large company servicing many universities across Korea for summer camps.

You can look at their website, but it's in Korean, at www.elcedu.co.kr
or check this link for contact details for their recruiter, Angie Mok
http://hiteacher.com/job/2009-06-24/9544"

Also check the work and play website- often lots of jobs going up daily.

Smile Good luck!
